Animation Course Modules

Introduction to Animation
In this first module, students get a complete understanding of what animation is and why it’s such a powerful medium in today’s entertainment and media industries. You will explore the main types of animation, including 2D animation, 3D animation, stop motion, motion graphics, and visual effects (VFX). We will also take you through the fascinating history of animation, from early hand-drawn frames to today’s high-end CGI films. This module explains the animation production pipeline step-by-step, so you understand how projects move from concept to final delivery. You’ll learn key industry terms, roles, and workflows that professionals use in studios. We will also discuss career paths like storyboard artist, character animator, VFX specialist, and game designer. Our trainers share examples from popular films, commercials, and games to inspire your creativity.

Basics of Drawing & Character Design
Animation begins with art, and in this module, you’ll develop your drawing skills to create characters that feel alive. We start with fundamental drawing techniques, understanding shapes, lines, proportions, and perspective to make objects look real and consistent. You will practice sketching characters from imagination as well as from references. We will guide you in creating unique characters with strong personalities, expressed through facial features, posture, and clothing. You’ll also study color theory to choose the right palettes that match moods and enhance storytelling. This module includes practical exercises like designing character turnarounds, creating different facial expressions, and sketching dynamic poses. We’ll also introduce background and environment design so your characters have a world to live in.you’ll have original character sheets ready to animate.

Principles of Animation
This module covers the 12 Principles of Animation, which are the golden rules for making movements look natural and engaging. These include squash and stretch, anticipation, staging, straight-ahead action, pose-to-pose, follow-through, overlapping action, slow in & slow out, arcs, secondary action, timing, and exaggeration. Each principle will be explained with visual examples and animations created in class. You’ll learn how these rules turn a stiff drawing into a believable, lively character. Through short exercises like bouncing ball animations, walk cycles, and lip-sync practice, you’ll see how applying these principles makes a big difference. Our trainers will also show how these rules work in both 2D and 3D contexts. You’ll practice each principle until it becomes second nature, preparing you to create professional-level animations in upcoming modules

2D Animation Techniques
Here, you’ll master the art of bringing flat drawings to life. Using tools like Adobe Animate, you’ll learn frame-by-frame animation, which is the traditional hand-drawn method, as well as tweening, which speeds up production. We’ll cover scene planning, background design, and how to keep characters consistent across frames. You’ll also learn rigging techniques for 2D puppets to speed up complex animations. Our trainers will show how to create camera movements, zooms, and pans to make 2D scenes more dynamic. You’ll create a short animated sequence from scratch, designing characters, planning storyboards, and animating them fully. We’ll also explore the role of 2D animation in explainer videos, advertisements.

3D Modeling & Texturing
This module takes you into the exciting world of 3D animation. You’ll learn to create 3D models using industry-standard software like Autodesk Maya and Blender. We’ll start with basic shapes and gradually move to complex character models and environments. You’ll understand the difference between low-poly and high-poly modeling and when to use each. Texturing is another key skill you’ll learn how to apply colors, materials, and surface details to make your models look realistic or stylized, depending on the project. We’ll also explore UV mapping, which ensures textures fit perfectly on your models. This module is hands-on, with plenty of practical assignments so you can create your own fully textured 3D characters, props, and settings.

3D Animation & Rigging
Once your 3D models are ready, it’s time to make them move. Rigging involves building a skeleton and control system inside your character so you can animate it smoothly. You’ll learn how to set up joints, IK/FK controls, and facial rigs for expressions. Then we move into the animation process, creating realistic walk cycles, run cycles, and action poses. You’ll also learn about animating props and environmental elements to enhance your scenes. Our trainers will teach you camera animation techniques to make your 3D sequences cinematic. By working on mini-projects, you’ll gain confidence in creating fluid, natural movements for characters and objects. This module is essential for students aiming to work in games, films, or 3D advertising.
